Each UV has a beneficial purpose.

UVC  is the most powerful and considered harmful to humans.  UVC is used to steralize and destroy bacteria.

UVA penetratss the skin in deeper layers known as the dermis.

UVB rays  stimulate the upper layers of the skin to produce melanin.  UVA browns that melanin to create a beautiful tan!
